Daily Gratitude

On Saturday I shared the link to our weekly Zoom call in a second WhatsApp group about spirituality and happiness. That group currently does a gratitude challenge. The challenge is very simple – find 3 things of the day to show gratitude for. Daily gratitude trains your brain to become happy. This is because you start to see the excess in this world that can become visible with meditation as well and you stop taking everything as self-evident. Meditation and gratitude both open you the door to a world of excess instead of a world of shortages.

As already described in the article Science of Well Being – Blog: Daily Light (earthlykingdom.org) there are some really annoying features of the mind. We get used to stuff which is called hedonic adaptation. Therefore the car we bought a month ago does not make us as happy as it made us when we bought it. We start to take everything as self-evident. You can overcome hedonic adaptation with savoring, negative visualisation, make this day your last and gratitude.

I think daily gratitude would also be a great idea for the WhatsApp group of mindset-evolutions. We could do the gratitude challenge there as well.

Join the gratitude challenge – it has positive effects on your mind and overall happiness. I attended a Yale University online course about happiness and they explained hedonic adaptation and the positive effects of gratitude on your mind.
